I am from the Eastern woodlands and was very happy to see my Metis relations represented at the Vancouver Olympics! Lately I have been in Rapid City and I know a good many Lakota People here. I wonder, can anyone tell me who, if any, were the dancers representing the Oglala Sioux at the opening ceremonies? It was so stirring to see the great gathering of so many First Nations People from all over the and Canada together in unity and peace welcoming the world and to hear the four nations of the region greeting the other First Nations and the Olympic attendees and participants from all over the world in their Indigenous Languages! This was a good way to show the importance of language and keeping our traditional languages alive for the future generations. Thanks to the people of BC for going all out and putting together such a well thought out Program shhowcasing the Culture of the region!

Thank you for posting this and the wonderful photo of the Squamish representatives. I had the honor of working with the Four Host First Nations backstage and during rehearsals for the past month. This was such an important performance for them, they were so honored to represent their nations in such a large production that would be seen worldwide. It was such a pleasure to work with everyone, they made the aboriginal welcome an incredible experience that I’ll never forget.
